July 4th Easy Snack and Treat to make!

My church is having a lovely picnic after Sunday Morning Service. I am extremely excited to make this. By looking at the picture you can kind of tell what items you will need to make this, but just in case I would like to tell you what I will be using to make this! Enjoy!

Styrofoam (rectangle) platform so that they will stand up.
Marshmellows : Which I noticed that stores are selling some that are stars and red, white and blue so that can be your toppers for your bigger marshmellows.
Chocolate: I got chocolate to melt and dip the marshmellows in so that it will give it a little bit for flavor for the kids :)
Colored Frosting in a tube: for the decorations (U.S.A, etc)
Sprinkles: So that little girls can see sparkles (which of course the woman like to see too) Which I will also use when dipping the marshmellows in chocolate.

I hope you have a wonderful and safe July 4th Weekend!

Thank you!!

Clementine Gourmet Market

Clementine Gourmet MarketPlace and Cafe
72990 El Paseo
Palm Desert, CA 92260

One of my closest friends started working here when they opened up their new location. So of course I had to go and check it out for myself seeing what all the hype was about!

They have an amazing selection of fine products from Italy, Spain, France, and Morocco. Gourmet foods definitely describes their wonderful selection of deli items and desserts. I, of course, had to try their Caesar Salad! Mmmm.. Good!! I was only able to eat 1/4 of it because it was so big, but thankfully I was able to share some with my daughter. It was delicious! I always have to ask for extra dressing when ordering a salad at any restaurant, but they put exactly enough salad dressing for me not to even have to ask! I was very impressed!

When I first walked in there were two very well dressed and well presented ladies that were very friendly from the first moment. I told them that I have never been to their cafe before and they actually took their time to walk me through everything.. (the store gift selections and the food area and how it was set up). It was very nice to know that they actually new the products in the store and was able to explain them to me.

The owner actually was at the location and greeted everyone that was in the store at least twice. She was very friendly and took the time to make sure I was extremely satisfied with the food, gift products, and employee services.

I would definitely recommend walking through the store at least once. I am very certain if you are intrigued with European Gourmet foods that there will be no reason for you not to go back and enjoy another breakfast, lunch or even a dinner.

Costco!! My shopping location!!

In the desert it gets extremely hot. I am now buying up all water, sun screen, swimming suits and arm swimmers for the summer. My number one location to buy my items is Costco! I went to Walmart and Target to find sun screen for my little one and recognized that it's $10 per spray. WOW!! When I went into Costco they are selling 3 for $17.99 of the same size and sometimes they have a couple of dollars off as well, so you can actually get it much cheaper! I have 3 little ones running around and I am constantly spraying sunscreen so that they don't get burnt. The worst thing during the summer is having a baby with a sun burn. Costco also has swimming suits for all ages right now starting at $14 and up. Having girls I get really weird about what type of bathing suits they wear. I like to make sure they are covered up. So because of being so weird about what they wear Costco has helped me with their new swim suits for girls. It's a two piece outfit with a one piece bathing suit (we bought Minnie Mouse) and it comes with a cover up for $19.99. Extremely excited about it since my two girls are 23 months apart so my littlest one can wear it in the following years as well. Water Water Water is a definite must in the desert! I always try to keep bottled water and gallon water in the house and cold so that the babies can just come in and ask for cold water and it will be ready for them. They also have arm swimmers with the front connections for $14. Anywhere else they are going for $30 + unless you find them on sale! I bought one for my 2 1/2 year old girl and she loves it. She walks around with all day long in the house! She just loves it!

I believe in Costco and Sams, but recently I am leaning more towards Costco than Sams. It's cheaper and with better quality products. (I have both memberships).

Have a lovely summer and remember WATER WATER WATER!!

Couponing 101 in the Desert

Now finally trying to realize how to coupon I figured I would try to explain what I have learned to you, my readers.

Here are a couple of coupon basics that might help a new couponer out!

1) Coupons may only be used once.
2) You may only use one coupon per indicated item(s)
3) You can only use one coupon per item (unless you have a manufactured coupon and a store coupon)
4) Ignore the picture and read the fine wording (the manufacturer always puts on their most expensive item on the coupon to make you think that is what you have to buy)
5) You can use your coupon on clearance or sale items as well!
6) Stand up for yourself. If you know your coupons shop with dignity!! You are saving money not broke! :)

Here are a couple of steps you can do to get ready for your first shopping experience:

1) Get Coupons!
       * Sunday Newspaper, Asking Friends and Family for coupons, Search the Internet, Clipping Service, and Check the Stores.

2) Organize Coupons!
       * Envelopes (start by clipping and putting them in all in an envelope or check file), File by insert (file your inserts by date in a box), or use a Coupon Binder (clip all coupons and file them in baseball card holders in a three ring binder then you can carry the binder in the store with you)

3) Know the coupon policy at your local store!
       * Loyalty Cards, Double/ Triple Coupons, Stacking Coupons, Internet Coupons, Competitor Coupons, Expired Coupons

4) Make a plan!
       * Weekly Ads (read the weekly store ads to see what is on sale and which stores you have the best prices on the items you need)
       * Coupon Matchups (see if you can match coupons to the sale items to get an even better deal)
       * Price Match (some stores will price match other stores in the area)
       * Make a List (don't go to the store without a list, it will remind you what you came for and keep you from buying items you don't need)
       * Rainchecks (get a rain check if the item you wanted is out of stock)

5) Read the find print!
      * Sometimes you don't have to buy 10 items to get the $1 price unless the add states that you have to buy all 10 to get the price
      * Wait on sales- don't just use the coupon because you have it wait until the item is at its lowest price so you can get your max potential out of the coupon
      * One per purchase- means only use one coupon per item purchased
      * Price book- start paying attention to prices and keep a list of items you regularly buy with the best and regular prices for those items
      * Limits- store will sometimes put limits on the item to make you think it's a great price!
      * Shop early if you have couponers in your area then it's best to get to the store as early in the sale as you can!
      * Bigger is better- the cost per unit of the bigger box of cereal may be less than the smaller one but with coupons and sales the smaller box is likely a better deal
      * Watch the cashier- checking out pay close attention to the price screen to make sure everything rings up at the correct price, and also make sure the cashier scans all of your coupons

6) Build your stockpile!
       * Start slowly, buy for the future, know how much you use, and donate!!

Doubling Coupons

Doubling and tripling coupons is one of the most confusing aspects of couponing for beginners (and me). So, I am going to explain exactly what it means!

Double or triple coupons is a promotion offered by the store in an effort to get you to shop there. Doubling coupons is when the store will take your coupon and match the value of it up to a certain amount. The amount will vary by store.

The coupon doubling happens automatically at the register, however you may need to use your loyalty/ rewards card to take advantage of the promotion (make sure to scan your card before any coupons or they may not double). After you scan the $1 coupon, you will see another deduction right under it for another $1 off.

Most store will only double a certain number of each of the same coupon.

Stores will only double up to a certain amount. The amounts are usually $.50,$. 99, or $1. That means, if you store doubles up to $.99 and you use a $1 coupon, your $1 coupon will not double. So, in this situation, a $.75 coupon would actually be worth more than $1 coupon!

Some coupons state "do not double" on them. If the coupon bar code starts with a "5" it will double automatically. If it starts with a "9" it will not double automatically.

Some stores only double on certain days.

To find out your store's policy- JUST CALL AND ASK! Make sure to address each of the issues above so you know what to expect when you go to the store.

I also follow couponmom.com. It helps me find my stores around me and the newest coupons with the stores. It's a life savor! I would definitely check out this website!

I hope everything that I have learned helps you as well! Happy Shopping!
